Seasons

"To everything there is a season..."

This is a poem I recited for a poetry project in 8th grade from Ecclesiastes 3. And depending on your age, it is a song you recognize by The Byrds. This chapter in Ecclesiastes is written by King Solomon as he reflects on his life. The whole book of Ecclesiastes is about the pursuit of wisdom, written at a time when Israel was boasting a season of wealth. It is inevitable you go through different seasons of life. Raising small children or parenting adult children. Times of sickness or when everything is going well. When you're on mission for God or sitting in the waiting. No matter what season you're in, there is purpose form God. What can you learn from these seasons of life?

Fall brings shorter days, cooler temperatures, and time to gather crops. It's a season that symbolizes reflection. It also promises a time of Thanksgiving. Psalm 107:1 "Oh give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever."

Winter ushers in extreme weather with plants becoming dormant trying to conserve energy. It's a harsh season but a necessary one. It speaks of survival and perseverance. James 1:12 "Blessed is hte man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life."

Spring is a time of renewal. Flowers bloom, trees boast new green leaves, and more light makes up our day. This is a time to start planting. 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 {Paul} "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grown."

Summer gives up hot temperatures and abundant growth. You take vacations with family and enjoy outdoor activities. The fruits and vegetables reach their peek. 2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever."

Ecclesiastes tell you you're not always oging to be living in a summer season. Each season serves a divivine purpose you may not understand in the moment. Embrace the lessons and challenges and know each season is a part of His greater plan.
